More AL East Chronicles

Here we are the start of the second week of August getting well into the dog days and the Ray's are still the top of the heap in the best division in baseball. They are 2 1/2 games in front of the Sox and 5 1/2 up on the Yanks, and now the Jays have climbed within 9 1/2 games.

4 of the 5 teams in the AL East have a 500 or better record, compare that to the lowly NL West that have only 2 and just 10 days ago there where none, no other division in baseball has more then 3.

I like many have wondered how the new guys on the block would do during the August and September stretch, we will just have wait and watch to see if they run out of gas or make it to the playoff's.

The Sox have played well since the blockbuster trade but can't seem to close the distance with the Rays.

My Yanks can't seem to get out of there own way, its 1 step forward and 2 back, the injury list is starting to resemble the population of a small city.

Now Joba Chamberlain is on the injury list with rotator cuff tendinitis, any time you start with the rotator cuff its not good, and with how hard Joba throws this could change the type of pitcher he will become.

The Jays have picked things up with new manager Cito Gaston, but have also been hit by the injury bug, but have won 4 in a row and are now within striking range of the Rays but will have a tough clime over the Yanks and Sox.

My Dodgers made out the best in "the blockbuster trade". Manny just doesn't hit the ball he crushes it.UC157 Larry
